Balinese Dishes : Babi Guling or Pig Suckling

If you’ve been to Bali and have tried some local dishes. This must be you may have heard or even you tried.

Babi Guling or Pig Suckling is the most iconic and popular Balinese dishes. Babi Guling is made of a whole young pig stuffed with various spices and roll-roasted for 3-4 hours on a top of a coconut husk fire. One serving of Babi Guling usually consists of the dry and crispy skins, diced babi guling meat and the spices from inside the Babi Guling.

It is very easy to find restaurants or warung (stall) that serve Babi Guling as a menu. Babi Guling is usually served with Lawar too.

The best Babi Guling Restaurant in Bali can be in Warung Gemah Ripah in Denpasar and Warung Bu Oka in Ubud. If you rent a car in Bali with a driver, ask them to go to those places and then you can taste the real Balinese Dishes.

Be aware that most of Balinese dishes are spicy and little bit hot.
